Daily Dose...

Not too long ago my sister talked me into meeting her in Old Town Scottsdale for a little Saturday brunch. If you know me at all, I rarely never pass up a brunch invitation. I love brunch. We went to a new hip joint called "Daily Dose." Outside of this restaurant there are adirondack chairs sitting out front under some misters. You are sure to get a little sun if you are waiting, which we did. But, I think this is a nice touch. You get to people watch and in Old Town, that is always a treat! Tourists, people on the walk of shame, etc...

Once we were sat our server was a little quiet and not outgoing at all, but we will let it slide. I ordered my signature brunch drink, a Bloody Mary, and Tel ordered hers, the Mimosa. (Very telling of our personalities) My Bloody Mary came with an extra large straw, perhaps to allow the bacon to flow freely. We also decided to split our brunch and we ordered the Southwest Wrap. It was delicious, but the chorizo was a little too salty. Had I been hungover I may be singing a different tune about the salt content. Splitting the dish was a good choice because it would have surely been too much for just me!

I think I would go back again to try a different dish and different serve should I be in Old Town for brunch another day. Maybe to enjoy the patio. ..

Bridal Shower: Day Four- Easter Sunday

Thank goodness I didn't drink as much as I had planned to at the bridal shower. I was able to rally quickly and spend Easter Brunch with my ma, Johnny, Aunt Kimmy and Jamie. It was no surprise to me when I arrived to a beautiful tablescape and mimosas with fresh fruit.

One of my favorite things outside the dining room window is the mural Johnny did. It looks like an Italian villa, but to me, it is heaven. All our animals are there, and the sun is shining. Once I sat down for brunch, I noticed Buddha staring at me with his readers on... Only at my mom's house will you find that. After brunch, and I had set off for Boise to catch my plane, my mom and Aunt Kim set of for Shoshone Falls, or the Niagara of the West.  They had it running at full force, which truly is a site to see. Looks mighty chilly if you ask me!

When we (my darling sister, my Lisa and Aunt Lilis) arrived in Boise we had about an hour before we had to be at the airport. So, obviously we stopped for some grub. Flat Bread is the new hip spot in town. I have heard there is even one in downtown Boise... They had a slew of options, even gluten free dough!

While we were waiting for our pizzas and flat bread we tested our wine knowledge. My Aunt Lilis is a wine genius!

This was my last stop in ID before heading back to the heat that is the South West... and boy was I ready to thaw out my bones!

Weekend Update

This weekend was one of the busiest weekends I have had in a long time. We hung out with friends Friday night at Down Under Wines, then I went shopping with my sister on Saturday for my bridal shower dress. I came out successful, she did not. Saturday night we met up with Mrs. B. Kim and TK for dinner at Latitude Eight. Dinner was lovely, conversation and company was great, the free wine was even better! I would highly recommend this place, the ambiance is wonderful and the owners are very generous.

We decided the night shouldn't end there so we went to our neighborhood pub. It was karaoke night, and it was more than entertaining. They had AMAZING soft pretzels and a server with Napoleon syndrome... Mustang Man was not pleased. After we had plenty of the terrible singers we stopped back home at the Casa de DIY and caught up on our YouTube. Mustang Man shared this with the group, TK shared this.

Sunday morn we woke up nice and early and went to the Swap Meet with my G-Rents. As always, there was plenty to see. Tons of aluminum wall art, and your every day radiation protection rocks! (pictured) We then hit Gordon Biersch for some refreshments and I got at Lobster Crab Cake... It was delicious.
Successful Weekend? Yes.

Down Under Wines & Bistro is one of my new favorite spots here in the South West. Mustang Man and I have been here many times, and the service only gets better and better! We always order the Crocodile Pot Stickers, and they are spicy and outstanding! They also offer Rabbit, Kangaroo and Ostrich dishes, although I haven't been brave enough to try them. They have a great selection of Cheese there too! They are also the only place to offer flights in this region that I have found, which to me, are a must at a wine bar!

Wine tastings are frequent as is the live music! But, if you test it out on a day that there is no live music, I doubt you will be disappointed in the music selection playing over the speakers. We have heard everyone from Van Morrison to Bob Dylan to Brandi Carlile.

My next mission at DUW is to sit out on the patio! I have yet to do that and it isn't too far away from being too hot. I pray they have misters!
