Bridal Shower: Day Two

Early Friday morning my ma picked me up to head to my florist and cake appointment. I had butterflies after meeting with the florist. I thinks she sees my vision and is going to make everything PERFECT. The cake appointment wasn't nearly as exciting, but I know it will taste good, and that is really the point, right?

Second then we stopped for a bite at Elevation 486 that was delectable! The restaurant is right on the canyon edge with a beautiful view! The food was the perfect comfort food for the chilly 50 degree day.

We stopped at my ma's house for an afternoon libation. There are so many amazing details in her house... I captured merely a few.

Her sun room is one of my very favorite rooms. And living with a VERY talented artist only helps the cause of AMAZING household features!

Later my BFF and I drove down to Blue Lakes Country Club, the venue for the Mustang Man's and my wedding. We were there to finalize the details like linens and rooms to utilize for the guests. And to try the food and drinks!

The views from the dining room are beautiful... and when the trees are green, it will be even better!

The food was great, only a few minor changes... which I think is a bonus!

This is where the ceremony will be, with a view of the I B Perrine bridge right off the Snake River.

On our way home, we saw a truck with ridiculous pipes... something you will only find in ID I am sure... Once we were home, it was crunch time for bridal shower favors and treats. Dad stepped in to help my Darling Sister with her brownie bites and my Lisa finished the favors.

Bridal Shower: Day One

A half day of work during an already short week is a glorious thing. When it means traveling home for ones bridal shower, that makes it even better. When my darling sister and I travel together, it is mandatory that we partake in airport libations. While enjoying my $12 glass of Pinot Grigio I happened to notice the gem below. A man with a scrunchie... I had to use my PI skills to take a top secret photo... but I thought it MUST be shared with the world.

Then my darling sister and I boarded the plane to fly to Boise. We had our Plane Crackers and bloody mary mix. I can't have too much salt when I am flying...

Once we arrived in Boise my dad picked us up and we hustled our way to the Boise Co-Op to pick up some cheese, beer and wine for the Bridal Shower. If you are wondering if the the Co-Op smells like patchouli, yes... it does... We also stopped at a new store called Brewer Haven... My dad was very excited to find "real beer" in a can for his upcoming raft trip.
By the time we got to our little home town we were all tired and hungry. But we still had enough energy to pay special attention to Lucy and her little lamp shade she had to wear because of her ear surgery. It was a grueling day but totally worth it. Stay tuned for days two and three which includes wedding planning and the bridal shower!

Weekend Update

This weekend was one of the busiest weekends I have had in a long time. We hung out with friends Friday night at Down Under Wines, then I went shopping with my sister on Saturday for my bridal shower dress. I came out successful, she did not. Saturday night we met up with Mrs. B. Kim and TK for dinner at Latitude Eight. Dinner was lovely, conversation and company was great, the free wine was even better! I would highly recommend this place, the ambiance is wonderful and the owners are very generous.

We decided the night shouldn't end there so we went to our neighborhood pub. It was karaoke night, and it was more than entertaining. They had AMAZING soft pretzels and a server with Napoleon syndrome... Mustang Man was not pleased. After we had plenty of the terrible singers we stopped back home at the Casa de DIY and caught up on our YouTube. Mustang Man shared this with the group, TK shared this.

Sunday morn we woke up nice and early and went to the Swap Meet with my G-Rents. As always, there was plenty to see. Tons of aluminum wall art, and your every day radiation protection rocks! (pictured) We then hit Gordon Biersch for some refreshments and I got at Lobster Crab Cake... It was delicious.
Successful Weekend? Yes.

Down Under Wines & Bistro is one of my new favorite spots here in the South West. Mustang Man and I have been here many times, and the service only gets better and better! We always order the Crocodile Pot Stickers, and they are spicy and outstanding! They also offer Rabbit, Kangaroo and Ostrich dishes, although I haven't been brave enough to try them. They have a great selection of Cheese there too! They are also the only place to offer flights in this region that I have found, which to me, are a must at a wine bar!

Wine tastings are frequent as is the live music! But, if you test it out on a day that there is no live music, I doubt you will be disappointed in the music selection playing over the speakers. We have heard everyone from Van Morrison to Bob Dylan to Brandi Carlile.

My next mission at DUW is to sit out on the patio! I have yet to do that and it isn't too far away from being too hot. I pray they have misters!

Never sure...

Today my Green Venture buddy sent me a blog link that reflected my very sweet dance moves in baby form. After a good chuckle, the chuckle that women do when watching adorable babies, I continued on. After the adorable "ladies room" fashion show the author puts on weekly, she delved a little deeper, into her feelings/fears about giving birth for the second time. And even though she never sugar coated it, yes, it was painful, she shed a new light on the most beautiful thing she has ever experienced.

Lately, I have been turned away from the idea of motherhood...
1. because I am not ready to sleep less than 8 hours a night. And I am sure Mustang Man isn't ready to have me shoving him out of bed because I don't wake up easily.
2. I am terrified of hospitals... very. terrified. and
3. IF I were to have a babe, I would want it to be a natural water birth... many hospitals don't offer that and I am not sure how confident I am in a midwife only.

But when I read the author's letter to her toddler baby girl, I think I might be back on board for having a child... The letter went straight to my heart... and the mother I wanted to be for my entire life seems like she is coming back up to the surface. Don't get me wrong, I am not in any rush... I have a few vacations I want to get under my belt before our family grows, but I am warming up to the idea again.

Here is my Mumsie holding me... and I am so grateful she brought me into this world.

And here she is holding my older brother... What a pretty mama! And my Brother... what a chunk!

And here are a few of us sibs... freaking adorable...

And, while we are at it... here is one of me and my dad... feeding me my first strawberry

Ya, I think I can be a mom... one day.

My new oasis

Today Mustang Man headed up to my grandparents to retrieve our patio set. I came home from a VERY long day at work to a new beautiful set up in our outdoor living space!

And this... this is my favorite part! I am looking forward to mornings on the front porch with my pup, my Mustang Man, Chix meowing at the door and a good cup of coffee. With this new set up, I am contemplating getting the Sunday paper weekly... just to fit the part... Doesn't it look glorious?

Birks are Back!

Today whilst reading my normal blogs that I normally read I came across a post that say birkenstocks are back and I am am ecstatic! I have been taunted for the last few years because of my love for my birks! If Free People says they are cool, then I believe it! If it weren't raining this weekend, I would be all over these... who knows. I still may. We are going to the Farmer's Market, people go barefoot there!

Holey Cucumber

I was so looking forward to my cucumber at lunch today. I have been craving them for weeks now. Before I starting peeling I had to decide how much I was going to eat. I sliced in and was devastated by a hollow center. Have you ever seen such a thing?

a brick oven and hot dogs on the weekend...

Sunday night, after we had all slightly recovered from our bad habits, HV, the neighbor, and Mustang Man thought it would be a grand idea to cook up some slabs o' pizza. And a grand idea it was. We couldn't have asked for better weather. And the dogs got along... mostly.  HV is master of the brick oven and he was teaching Mustang Man the art. I think Mustang Man's pizza was superb! HV also made 12 other pizzas with various toppings, including goat cheese, feta, caramelized onions, mushrooms, pineapple, jalapenos... and more! A great way to start the week!

Weekend plans...

Relaxing... Lounging... Sitting poolside. Oh, and drinking white wine with ice cubes! Ha ha! Mustang man didn't want the wine to get hot in our nearly 100 ° weather.
